Been awhile. I'm sure you missed me. So many things going on right now. Just recovering from major sickness, but feeling much better thank you. (And thank you to you Mr. Bismol, too). I finally printed t-shirts!!!! Sadly, I've also already ran out. I hear there may be a few floating around that I can get a hold of, but I'll keep you posted. If not, I'm definitely doing a larger run in the near future.
Adieu to monsieur Shannon. We'll miss ye. Come back soon good sir. A happy birthday to you and to Mr. Bernstein.
Career building task versus culture broadening travels? I've had many different opinions in my face this past weekend when this question confronted me. I try to fancy myself as a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants type of guy. Or at least something one might aspire to, being all that spontaneous, fun-loving, impromptu crap and such. Ahh, screw it. I'll save that one for an essay. Or a speech. You know, which ever I get the chance to do first... So probably neither.

The best things in life are free. Duh. Sure, I saw a great concert of the great Radiohead. Sure, I had a fantastical meal at the Tofu House. But dammit it all, if it ain't the company you keep. Let's all raise our glasses and bow our heads as we say adieu to Mark "Gishi" Yamagishi. I'm still trying to figure out why they call him that... Duh. Many thanks to Gishi for getting the tix. Many thanks to Casey M. for getting the parking pass. Many thanks to Autumn for sticking it out in her hunger, craving smokes, and soberness. Many thanks to the crew for making it an altogether enjoyable evening (Hallie, Danie, Mandy, Dileep, Jason, Dave, Chang).
In other news, George Plimpton died. He wrote shit. Duh. And Robert Palmer died. He was addicted to love. Duh.
I'm trying to bring back the phrase, "Duh." Duh. Please don't confuse this with the well-known catch-pharse of one Homer J. Simpson of "Doh." Very different. Duh
Duh.

Went to see Fischerspooner last night at the House of Blues. Quite a random venue for such an "artsy" group, but oh well. They put on a decent show, albeit stagy and completely lip synched. If you like the music, you'd like the show. And I don't use the term show loosely.
Shirts are still coming. We keep running into snafus. My apologies to the antsy impatient people. You're very high on my "list."

I just finished doing a really quick design for my friend's improv comedy group Punchbelly. And I saw one of their shows last night. Hilarious stuff. Check out their site here for when their shows are...
Did anyone else go that bizarre-ass LACMA event last night? They stayed open until 7am apparently, serving booze and opening exhibits for free. Apparently the wait was almost 2 hours long. Lucky for me, good ol' Jason Macaya hooked us up and got us in right when we got there. A great idea which should happen more often. Except for the insane line. I left at 2am and there was still a 3 block line. Freaks. Little did most of them know that the booze stopped flowing already. Poor schmucks. If they cared. Maybe they were already loaded?

I watched the general process of preparing and producing screens, and finally actually printing on shirts. I never knew it was such an ordeal!!!! The paints, the chemicals, the timing, the heating. So many things to make sure of, so many things that can go wrong. Preparation is the key. Slowly learning. But quickly understanding that this won't be as easy as I thought. That won't hinder our progress in getting shirts to you though!!!

Ahhhh, the mundane. Harvey Pekar knows it well. I suppose that's why I can relate. Luckily for the both of us, we have our outlets. He has American Splendor, just as I have... Um... This site...? Damn. Okay, Pekar wins that one. I just saw his flick American Splendor last night with a roommate, and was highly amused and influenced. His attitude, his life, and the people in it are all unusually relateable. One person in particular, Tobey, Harvey's coworker and self-proclaimed nerd is hilarious, especially when you realize it's all based on reality! Pekar is a schlep to the highest degree, but the kind of schlep that we all aspire to be. I haven't read all of his stuff yet, but be sure that I'll get to it once I get my hands on it. Truly inspiring stuff. In the "fuck everything and live with it" sense. Of course.

I watched the Japanese flick Battle Royale finally. I guess I wasn't flabbergasted since I read the manga version first. And frankly, the manga version is better. More time to develop each kid. And, digging even deeper, it all started with a novel of the same name. Being me, without even touching the novel, I'm 99% assuming that the graphic novel is better than that piece of work as well. Although I'm sure whatever you touch first, you may consider the better. Reading some of the reviews of all three, I found at least one person agrees that the graphic novel is the best iteration of them all. Prove me wrong and check 'em out.

To curtail your boredom, since I'm sure many of you visiting are here to do just that (right...) check this out. A site that has entire audio tracks from good films. Some are great listenings, others are difficult to pay attention to, all are a good way to keep your mind occupied while your hands are doing menial banner ads, form filing, and/or replying to moronic e-mails. My coworkers are currently addicted. And time flies when you're listening to it. Trust me. I know what I'm doing. Click here to end the monotony already.

I'm looking for a girl with really nice arms for a t-shirt image. If you're in the LA area, like to model for free (or for at least a free t-shirt!), and want people wearing shirts of your arms on it, then you may be what I need. E-mail me and we'll talk. If you could attach a photo to your e-mail, with your arms preferably prominent in it, I'd appreciate it. I'm looking for a specific type of arms and hands, so don't be disappointed if you submit and don't get picked. Thanks!

Holy smokes! Last night was awesome! I saw Junior Senior live at the Troubadour. They rocked my panties off. If you haven't heard em yet, go check em out. www.juniorsenior.com. By far one of the best concerts I've been to in awhile. They played their hit single TWICE! Who does that?!!? They asked for a request at the end, and someone shouted "Move Your Feet," and they played it! Then they pulled up a few people on stage, and the whole crowd stormed! It was rockin'!!! Check out the video for it too if you haven't already here. Gotta love it...
