Stickers. 2000 of em. Want some? Send me a SASE (that's Self Addressed Stamped Envelope) to me. Want my address? I'd love to post it here, but really, I've had it up to here with stalkers. E-mail to let me know how badly you want some Oki! Stickers and I'll send you my address. Not sure what they look like? It's simply my logo that you may or may not have seen on the splash page.
The store is coming soon...

So much catching up to do. Went to the UCLA game Saturday night for a lovely evening with the fam and the Drakes. Bruins tied for 1st in the Pac-10?!?! The apocalypse is truly upon us...
Fires are ransacking all of southern Cali. My aunt and uncle had to evacuate their home in Chatsworth. And that really isn't too far from all of Los Angeles. The apocalypse is truly upon us...
I saw Elephant this past Sunday with dear Autumn. An eerily beautiful film that very loosely reenacts the Columbine shootings. If you're impatient, easily disturbed, and hate things different, do not see this movie. Agreed.
Oh, I pretty much only have 2 small shirts left. My apologies (again) to the people I missed. I guess I'll have to make more. And for god's sakes, don't eat at Eurochow. My mom will make you better food for just half the price. Or free. Depending on if she likes you or not. How Eurochow ever passed that crap off as "fine dining" let alone "good" is beyond me. The apocalypse is truly upon us...

Things that are good this week: a) I still have my job. b) My computer is working again. c) The Strokes rocked me Wednesday.
Things that are bad this week: a) Indie musician Elliot Smith died. b) Rerun from "What's Happening" died. c) SSX3 has me by the nads.

Congratulations to the newlywed Katie and J.D. Harkley! Good seeing the Drake family again too. San Diego is a nice place, and it's always good to visit. Except for the damn fog. We almost died in it. Not the kind that turns your body inside-out, just the kind that won't let you see 10 feet in front of you. Both are very deadly though.
By the by, I made more "I LOVE OKI" t-shirts. If you're interested now, you can e-mail me to order one. I'm gonna sell this first round cheap (some didn't come out as well as I wanted to) for only $10. If you need me to ship em to you, that'll be a little more of course. I've only got a few left in small, medium, and large kids sizes. These are mostly for the ladies, but gentlemen, if you wanna show your love, by all means do so.

A happy birthday to Jo! I leave for San Diego tonight for a family friend's wedding. Miss me much. I shall return on Sunday. Pray that I party hard. In the meantime, occupy your weekend with some "new" music.
Lyrics Born "Later That Day..." - Quick and stylin' smooth rapper with help from Cut Chemist, Gift of Gab, and other Quannum hip hoppers. Makes ya bounce, think, and laugh.
The Black Keys "The Thickfreakness" - Good ol' rock n' roll. One drummer, one geetar, and one rollin' bluesy voice. Mmmmmm.
Peaches "Fatherfucker" - Raunchy electroclash chick is back with her new album. Not for the kiddies. Iggy Pop guests on it. More of the old stuff, but hey, she still brings it. And I'm seeing her perform October 25th at The El Rey.
Enjoy the weekend!

Time to exhibit my geekhood...
If you're looking for a great read and pretty pictures, may I suggest a comic book. And if you do decide to read a comic book, may I suggest reading Y: The Last Man. The story involves the annihilation of every single species on Earth that has the Y chromosome (that means every single male for you less scientifically inclined) by some unknown disease or virus. For some reason though, one young man named Yorick and his pet male capuchin monkey survive. I'm sure many a male has considered this situation, but this series explores so many more other thought provoking effects. I can't even begin to list all the madness this one male goes through. Pick up the books yourself, which are now in trade paperback, and still as an on-going series. Will the human raced be saved? Can Yorick survive the newly risen man-hating Amazons? By the way, New Line Cinema has already optioned this title to turn it into a movie. No superheroes, no amazing special effects, no beefed-up crazy action. Just an amazing story with deep characters, witty converstaion, and topical plotlines. Read this better review and see what all the hoopla is about! READ THIS BOOK!

Turin Brakes, Turin Brakes, Turin Brakes. A lovely band who put on a lovely show last night at the Troubadour. Thanks to Casey for the tix, and thanks to Rebecca for the lift.
Go see Kill Bill too. Especially if you like blood gushing from decapitated limbs and such. I know you do. Great action. Great shots. Great flick.

I can't recommend "School of Rock" enough. Jack Black is his perfect spastic self, as the role was crafted specifically for him. The kids are cute, talented, and funny. The plot isn't totally ridiculous, and somehow veers from standard "group of misfits that challenge and beat the jerks" fare (don't worry, I didn't give anything away there). The conviction of Jack Black's character to rock n' roll is inspiring. The laughs are "face-melting" and "gut-busting." Even the clip when the credits roll is hilarious. I'm buying it as soon as it goes on DVD. Which really doesn't mean much since I also own Buckaroo Banzai: Across the 8th Dimension. Whatever.
Okay, maybe Autumn and Dave's presence helped...

Ooh, ooh, ooh. Also, just a few great shows to check out at the Troubdaour.
October 11 - Mates of State, I Am the World Trade Center, and The Thermals. All three bands are great, so do NOT miss the opening acts.
October 13 - Turin Brakes. Great duo, makes ya feel good. Ahem, Casey...
October 30 - Metric. All my buddies have wood over this chick-helmed band. Pure pop goodness. Ahem, Casey, again...
November 17 - Junior Senior. They're coming back already!?!?!! So worth checking out. Still one of the best concerts I've seen. Too much fun.

Ahoy there. What a fun-filled weekend this has been! A shout out to Rachael, hope you had a happy birthday! A 2 day celebration, what could be better!? Sorry for not staying to help clean up...
The Shortlist of Music Awards was mindblowing, at the least. Thanks to Hallie for hanging out and driving us there. You must, MUST, check out at least one, if not all the bands that were there. Eight of the ten nominees performed. Extremely good stuff. Check out all the bands you can, if not on the Shortlist, I'm sure you can find something on the Longlist.
Tonight, The Sounds at the Troubadour. I can't stop!
